About your
Liz, your homestay mother, is a lawyer working for the government in the public service and a mother to our 6-month-old baby Leo.
Kal is a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine and owns his own clinic in Canberra city.
Our son Leo is a gorgeous, quiet baby. Our room is separate from student’s rooms, so your study will not be disturbed by noise from the baby.
We are friendly, down to earth people. We both love gardening, spending time with our son, cooking beautiful homemade food and learning about other cultures.
Our home is located in Latham, a quiet suburb in Belconnen, close to the University of Canberra and Australian Institute of Sport. Our street is made up of established free-standing homes with long term residents.
The bus stop is located 200 metres from the house and Kippax shopping centre is 1 km away. The major shopping centre, Westfield, is 10 minutes from our home.
We have 2 rooms left - a large room with a its own ensuite which you would have to yourself and is available from 10 January for $380 per week. The second room is available now for $350 per week. All rooms have a single bed, desk, wardrobe, chest of drawers, lamp and all the furniture you need to feel comfortable.
What we provide:
We offer a home away from home. You’re welcome to come join in with family activities, or do your own thing. We provide all the food you can eat, plus unlimited internet, a comfortable light filled room with ducted heating and new soft carpet, new linen, laundry facilities and off-street parking. We will also pick you up from the airport free of charge.
Liz and Kal will help you settle in to life in Canberra. We’re happy to show you how to use the bus, find out what is on in Canberra and recommend places to go and things to do.
You are welcome to enjoy family life with us and our son, including practicing English, cooking, board game nights, gardening, BBQs, trips to see the Canberra sites, or just do your own thing.
We have a dining room, covered entertaining area, a front and back garden full of flowers, vegetables, herbs and fruit trees and a veranda to hang out in.
We provide an extensive self- serve continental breakfast, a packed lunch, a hot dinner and all snacks.
Breakfast
Includes a wide variety of cereals, breads, fruit, yogurt, tea, pod coffee and juice.
Lunch / dinner – varies, but will include
Lasagne, ravioli, moussaka, chicken carbonara, chicken curry, laksa, teriyaki, sushi, roasts, potato bake, honey prawns, Pho, satay, homemade pizza etc
Served with green vegetables, bread, salad and occasionally desert – homemade puddings, cakes, jellies, ice-cream and fruit.
Snacks
Homemade slices, biscuits, cakes, scones, store bought noodles, biscuits, cakes, cheese and crackers, chips, nuts, dried fruit, fresh fruit and vegetables.
