WHO ARE WE?
We are a family of three. My husband is German, I am New Zealander and we have a 15-year-old son. I am an accountant and my husband is a Data Director. We have no pets and do not smoke. We speak German and English in the house.
ENGLISH LANGUAGE
I worked at the University of Waikato as a tutor. I can spend half an hour at night working with students who study English.
SAFETY OF OUR HOME
Our home is fully alarmed with night sensors. All rooms are protected by smoke alarms. Our street is a very safe area and is well lit by street lights at night.
BUS RIDE
The bus is a 240 metre walk from our home. Bus rides to the city centre is cheap with a student concession
WHAT DO MY HOMESTAY FEES INCLUDE?
MEALS: All BREAKFASTS will be provided. Homestay guests can serve themselves from the breakfast foods. We will provide cereals, rice, eggs, fruit, toast, spreads, tea, coffee, hot chocolate and fruit juices.
DINNERS: Your homestay hosts will cook and serve all dinners. We serve healthy, nutritious and delicious meals as we are a healthy home. We eat a lot of vegetables and will serve rice at every meal for Asian guests.
WEEKENDS: Self serviced lunch will be provided at the weekends.
SNACKS: AS AN EXTRA we will provide fresh fruits and noodles to eat as a snack. You can also help yourself to tea, coffee and chilled water.
ALSO INCLUDES:
Unlimited ultra-fast fibre internet, electricity, water, comfortable bed, electric blanket, heater, drawers, wardrobe, desk and chair, full length mirror, warm quality bedding, quality towels, multiplugs for power access.
Homestay guests can use the laundry facilities, two lounges, dining room, kitchen, bathroom and toilet. There is a sunny deck to relax on. We have a PS4 in the common lounge, chromecast to watch movies and board games for family nights.
WHAT IS IN THE AREA?
The town of Birkenhead is a short 5 minute walk to the Supermarket, Mall, cafes, bars and shops. The library is a 15 minute walk. In the area are plenty of beautiful walks along the waterfront. We live right next to a reserve and from the dining room and deck you have a beautiful and relaxing view of native trees and birds including Tui, rainbow lorakeets and many variety of birds.
OUR IDEAL HOMESTAY GUESTS
We are a multi-cultural family and we love to hosts International guests. You must be clean and will be expected to help out with light household chores, ie dishes. You must be independent, tidy, polite and respectful of house rules.
